Job Description

Salary: $40.40 Hourly

The YMCA of Greater New York is here for all New Yorkers — to empower youth, improve health, and strengthen community. Founded in 1852, today the Y serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services at our 24 branches. Community is the cornerstone of the Y. Together, we connect active, engaged New Yorkers to build stronger communities.

To help fulfill our mission, we cultivate a culture of learning, leading, and collaboration to enhance community impact. Through our talented staff and “LEAP” career framework (Leadership, Empowerment, Accountability, Personal Growth), we are committed to a people-first approach that fosters trust, inclusion, growth, and development for all.

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a dynamic Social Work Specialist to provide direct SIFI supervision to MSW Interns placed at various YMCA branches and case management support to YMCA staff who work in the mental wellness and case management field. For many years, the YMCA has placed Master’s in Social Work interns (MSW) in our various youth, family, international, and adult programs. Interns complete site-specific work with the population that they find interesting and with whom they want to gain further experience. The Social Work Specialist functions as the Field supervisor to an annual cohort of MSW interns placed in sites where an existing MSW is not employed. This position requires 6 – 10 hours per week. They will support successful MSW interns’ completion of field study, including successes, challenges, and compliance through weekly supervision. The Social Work Specialist will also support Site Task Managers with Intern task creation, successes, challenges, and compliance through coaching and support as needed.
