The Youth and Family Program Director is responsible for the development and operations of various programs
(sports, youth, teens, and family engagement), as well as focus on developing high quality, innovative programs
that will grow the local impact, multiply the Y mission and engage more youth, teens, and families in YMCA
programs. As the Youth & Family Program Director, you will contribute to the Y and to the broad community we
serve by creating experience that help people feel a greater sense of health, well-being, purpose, acceptance and
belonging.
- Preferred Bachelors Degree in a youth-related field, or Sports Management/Recreation
- Prior experience supervising, developing, and implementing youth and family programs
- Required within 45 days of employment: First Aid/AED/CPR certification, Oxygen Administration, and Concussion
Training Certification
- Ability to read & interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
- Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people
and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
• Promotes Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility in all job-related functions.
• Ensures high-quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands programming within the
communities in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program
registrations.
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel, coaches, insructors and volunteers.
• Develops and maintains relationships with community partners, school administration, parent groups and other
organizations.
• Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
• Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
• Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and
community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
• Maintains records and compiles statistical information that monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the
participation in programs.
• Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
• Directs and develops quality programs for youth & teens, including but not limited to, YMCA Youth in
Government, Leadership Programs, Mentoring, and Community Service Opportunities.
