Day Camp Director - (Year Round Position Full Time)

The Day Camp Director develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA Day Camp programs.
Job Description

Manages, directs, and coordinates the Day Camp programs; Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Assists the School Age Director with coordinating the before and after school age program and being in counts during a portion of the school year.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
Evaluates staff performance and develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Develops, manages and controls day camp budgets; Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected; Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
Ensures that YMCA program standards and Wisconsin State Licensing requirements are met and safety procedures followed.
Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Maintains proper records/department files.
Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Compiles program statistics; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

21 years of age 
Minimum of Associates Degree required, degree in related field preferred
Minimum 240 hours experience as a child care teacher or center director in a group child care center 
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience overseeing a youth program 
Must meet Wisconsin Licensing qualifications for Center Director; must meet qualifications for Center Director of 51 or more within 24 months

Essential Functions

Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 30 pounds and able to traverse hilly and uneven terrain without undue exertion.
Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
Perform essential program support to camp activities and programs which may include, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.
Ability to perform tasks outdoor in different climates.
