Job Description

The YMCA of Greater Louisville is a vibrant, mission-driven Urban Group YMCA, recognized for its commitment to community impact and cause-driven work. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, team-oriented, and innovative individual to join the leadership team at the Floyd County Family YMCA. Reporting to the Senior Youth Development Director, the School Age Child Care Director is responsible for the direct supervision of ten school-age program sites and four summer day camps. This leadership role plays a pivotal part in continuing strong school partnerships, developing new program opportunities, and advancing branch initiatives aligned with Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility. Additionally, the director will provide leadership in branch and site-level fundraising efforts.

Qualifications
  • Commitment to the YMCA mission and the demonstration of YMCA core values: determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred), with at least two years of professional experience in child care or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing, coaching, and motivating staff teams
  • Meet or exceed YMCA Child Care Director qualifications
  • Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team of site directors
  • Authentic relationship-builder, able to unite and inspire others to strengthen the community
  • Positive, service-minded attitude and commitment to excellence in delivery
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with social media communication tools
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating partnerships and donor relationships
Essential Functions

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and oversight to school-age sites and summer camps, ensuring quality, safety, and program growth
  • Ensure the consistent implementation of enriching curriculum that supports holistic development—Spirit, Mind, and Body—at every site
  • Effectively communicate the vision and goals of Youth Development to staff, families, and community partners
  • Develop and maintain safety systems to ensure a secure environment for children and staff
  • Acquire and maintain child care licensing at key sites in response to community needs
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets to ensure financial health and sustainability
  • Lead monthly site director meetings, incorporating team building and professional development opportunities
  • Recruit, hire and train staff
  • Oversee staff scheduling and payroll approval processes with accuracy and efficiency
  • Foster inclusive environments and meaningful human connections to reduce barriers, promote equity, and drive positive community change
