Job Description

Under the supervision of the Dover YMCA Executive Director and following the strategic direction of the YMCA, the Family Program Director will offer programs that promotes Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The Family Program Director is primarily responsible for planning and implementing After School Care, Summer Day Camp, Kids Day Out, and other special Family events. The Family Program Director understands how to build relationships and be culturally competent to communicate to a diverse participant group.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or valid experience 

·        Prior supervisory, management and budget experience required

·        Experience coordinating and directing school-age childcare programs (summer day camp and after-school activities)

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Possess a Class C CDL and maintain a clean driving record (or be willing to achieve in first 90 days)

·        YMCA Experience Preferred – Team Leader Certification

·        Demonstrated knowledge and experience with current technology

·        Previous experience in public presentations or speaking in front of groups

Essential Functions

·        Provide leadership to the Dover YMCA Summer Camp, After School, School’s Out Specials, Kid’s Night Out, Father – Daughter Dance and Child-watch

·        Supervise Part Time Coordinators at the Program Sites

·        Supply ordering and processing

·        Creation of family programs registration materials on the web site and in CORE

·        Ensure all employees and volunteers are trained in Child Abuse Prevention.  

·        Recruit, hire and train all family programs staff and volunteers.

·        Ensures adequate staff training on risk management and emergency procedures

·        Direct and lead the program evaluation process

·        Produce regular participant communication of timely newsletters, emails, and phone calls.

·        Plans and implements after school and summer curriculum

·        Ensure that adequate fees are collected from participants in a timely fashion

·        Manage budget

·        Instill the 5 Character Development Traits – Faith, Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility

·        Represent the YMCA on community boards and at community functions
