Job Description
Under the direction of the CEO, the Director of Business Services oversees and manages the financial operations for the YMCA to include financial reporting, account management and accounting, payables, receivables, personnel, administrative functions and payroll-related functions. Also assists with the development of policies and ensures their implementation. The incumbent will demonstrate a commitment to YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting and/or equivalent experience.
Two to five years of experience in the accounting and/or financial management field.
Demonstrated knowledge and thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting procedures, financial statement preparation and analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Working knowledge of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
Solid knowledge of computer systems like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with a variety of software to include QuickBooks, Daxko, and payroll processing software.
Demonstrated leadership qualities, strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills, project management, problem solving, and detail-oriented.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with an ability to negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the YMCA.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Ability to make independent decisions and determine the appropriate course of action.
Able to manage complex and difficult situations with a high level of professionalism.
Essential Functions
Prepare and analyze and reports monthly, and give guidance to operational staff.
Prepares and presents financial reports, including financial statements, including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, forecasts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and capital reports.
Processes accounts receivable and payable.
Manages our participation in the Y-Retirement.
Aides in the preparation of financial reports for the YMCA of USA or other agencies.
Oversees the purchase order system.
Daily deposit verification and posting – Daxko deposit to bank and Quickbooks.
Enters daily and weekly journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
Manages and prepares monthly bank and credit account reconciliations.
Manages the billing of programs and membership.
Reviews, updates, and/or develops internal control systems for the YMCA and oversees internal audits which check for compliance on a variety of policies and standards. Provides recommendations for improvement.
Works with auditors regarding annual audit and findings to ensure all standards and requirements are met.
Attends Finance Committee meetings.
Orders office supplies.
Assists with the annual budgeting and planning process. Administers and reviews all financial plans and budgets w/ dept supervisors; provides weekly/monthly reports for leaders to remain abreast of current financials.
Works with the CEO in the establishment and maintenance of all banking and financial relationships.
Maintains all records, accounting reports, transactions, contracts and agreements.
Provides a wide variety of payroll-related functions in support of the association.
Bi-weekly payroll processing.
Ensures compliance with all AR/PR related laws and regulations.
Prepares and distributes all required Annual payroll, payment, and other reports and forms.
Maintains all required records in accordance with retention requirements.
Completes various administrative functions.
Prepares all required reporting to governmental agencies.
Other duties designated by the CEO.
