The YMCA Camp Casey Program Director is responsible for overseeing and developing programs that support the YMCA's mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility serving the community on Whidbey Island, WA. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, as well as managing staff and volunteers. This position will work to engage the community, build partnerships, and ensure the success of YMCA programs by recruiting staff, training volunteers, and managing budgets.
The YMCA Camp Casey Program Director is responsible for oversight, development, and daily operations of community programs including day camp, youth sports, aquatics (seasonal pool), teen leadership, and health & wellness for YMCA Camp Casey. This role leads the strategic growth of these programs while ensuring alignment with YMCA values and the evolving needs of our diverse community. The role includes working in program when needed, maintaining a consistent and visible presence, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment. This position also builds strong relationships with families, community partners, and internal teams. Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills are essential, as the Program Director serves as a key connection point across multiple departments.
Manage, direct, and coordinate programs to serve the Whidbey Island Community, including and not limited to Aquatics, Day Camps, Health & Wellness, Youth Leadership, and Youth Sports.
· Lead the development and implementation of high-quality, age-appropriate programming; establish and grow new program activities aligned with community needs and YMCA priorities.
· Expand program reach within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
· Provide leadership for the development, monitoring, and oversight of budgets and day-to-day fiscal operations for all assigned program areas.
· Safety and Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with YMCA policies and regulations, as well as applicable laws; ensure emergency supplies are stocked and maintained.
· Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and mentor staff and volunteers; evaluate performance and provide ongoing coaching to support professional growth and program success.
· Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, and partners.
· Coordinate registration procedures, program information, and communication with families.
· Marketing and Promotion: Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote programs and attract participants.
· Actively participate in assigned YMCA of Snohomish County Advancement Teams and Branch Leadership Teams.
· Lead and facilitate staff and volunteer training.
· Participate in and support annual fundraising efforts and special events.
· Work in program ratio as needed to ensure smooth and safe program operations.
· Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive program environment that promotes participant engagement and well-being.
· Ensure the achievement of quality, safety, enrollment, and financial goals across all program areas.
· Interact with members and families daily, demonstrating professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Age: 21
· Two or more years of related experience developing, implementing and supervising programs and activities to serve community.
· Experience working with individuals, families and communities of diverse backgrounds and abilities
· Experience with staff and volunteer supervision and development
· Previous leadership experience in camp and/or aquatic programs preferred
· Strong computer skills and experience with standard business software
· Plan, organize, and implement high quality developmentally appropriate programming
· Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to become a Y driver (preferred) and travel between program sites in personal or camp vehicle
· Pre-employment current driver abstract required (available online through Dept. of Licensing)
· Minimum two years driving experience with clean driving record
· Fluency in second language desired
Physical Demands:

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise program activities. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position may require working outdoors for extended periods in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, wind, heat, and cold.
