Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION

Responsible for planning, development, administration, expansion, and evaluation of Pasco YMCA at the Martin Luther King Center programs.  Ensure that the YMCA operates high-quality programs that adhere to all state and YMCA guidelines for the operation of outreach centers.

WORK SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS

The Center Director is expected to maintain a flexible schedule to support YMCA operations. This includes regular weekend responsibilities associated with league play, special events, or other program activities. Workday and hours may be adjusted during the week to accommodate operational needs while ensuring consistent leadership presence at key programs, events, and the facility.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, recreation, community services, youth development, or related fields.
  • Experience in managing and directing volunteers, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, and program development.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must obtain & maintain certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to stand or sit for extended periods, moving to retrieve items in files and on tables, bending and periodically lifting and/or moving approximately 50 pounds.
  • Respond to emergency situations throughout the Y building, remote locations, and varying terrain.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and telephone/smart device to communicate.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to perform work both indoors and outdoors and travel to various locations.
Essential Functions

1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands youth sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

2. Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.

3. Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.

4. Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.

5. Coordinates or conducts sports clinics or camps.

6. Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.

7. Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget.

8. Administer programs/activities/special events at the Pasco YMCA.

9. Hire, background check, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers of Pasco YMCA.

10. Conduct staff/volunteer coach meetings and trainings.

11. Develop and maintain positive relations with partnering agencies/organizations.

12. Work to assure quality and safety of all programs.

13. Expand programming to meet YMCA goals and community needs.

14. Attend and contribute to meetings (such as staff, program committee, and community meetings).

15. Be advocate for YMCA, its mission, and all programs.

16. Develop budget and implement program within budget guidelines – complete required reports.

17. Assist with fundraising, especially Strong Kids Campaign, grant writing and special events.

18. Secure and maintain appropriate certifications/trainings.

19. Work with City of Pasco to oversee maintenance of the center.

20. Other duties as assigned.
