Under the supervision and direction of the Branch Executive Director and Vice President of Operations, the Senior Director of Healthy Living provides strategic leadership for the Wellness and Fitness areas at the assigned branch location(s) while advancing wellness and health initiatives across the association. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality programs, building strong teams, and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and mission-driven experience for members and staff.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Nationally recognized certification required (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, or CSCS).
Current CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid certifications required.
Demonstrated program management experience.
Experience with budget development and fiscal management.
Previous supervisory experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively with diverse populations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and use other software platforms utilized by the association.
Provide strategic leadership, organization, and direction for all assigned Wellness and Fitness areas and events to meet the evolving needs of the community and the association.
Support, mentor, and guide wellness leaders across the association to promote collaboration and operational excellence.
Review and audit wellness processes and practices association-wide to ensure alignment, consistency, and continuous improvement, while providing resources and tools that strengthen operations.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and develop high-performing staff to meet the needs of the Wellness and Fitness areas.
Design and implement classes, programs, and activities that reflect the needs and interests of the association and the communities it serves.
Develop and manage the budget for all areas of responsibility in conjunction with the Branch Director, ensuring sound fiscal stewardship.
Use current data and performance metrics to evaluate program and department impact, effectiveness, and opportunities for growth.
Ensure program areas are safe, well maintained, and aligned with the needs of members and program delivery.
Work closely with the branch staff team to coordinate facility usage and support a positive member experience.
Oversee administrative functions, including but not limited to payroll, hiring packets, incident reports, brochure preparation, and department and branch communications.
Provide weekly revenue and expense reports to the Vice President of Operations for Small Group Training and Personal Training for each branch.
Serve as an active participant and leader on YMCA staff teams as assigned.
Support YMCA events, including 5K Walk, Halloween Event, Healthy Kids Day, and LiveSTRONG Day, as needed.
Maintain an exceptionally clean, safe, and welcoming Wellness Center, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, best practices, and internal standards, while keeping equipment in excellent working order and the welcome desk professional and orderly.
Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, personal training, and group exercise staff certifications.
Regularly inspect program areas for damaged or broken equipment and coordinate repairs in a timely manner.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Conduct a monthly staff meeting, including an emergency drill.
Complete all administrative functions in a timely and accurate manner, including staff paperwork, accident and incident reports, staff meeting notes, ADP payroll processing, and maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of CPR/AED, First Aid, personal training, and group exercise staff certifications.
Model the YMCA’s four core values for members and staff on a daily basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
