Job Description

Under the general direction of the Senior Childcare Director, the Childcare Director is responsible for the development, coordination, planning, administration, supervision, and delivery of the toddler, pre-school, and school-age Childcare programs and the daily operations of the licensed childcare center.  The position is responsible for ensuring that childcare programs convey the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the Attleboro YMCA.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be currently certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Quick, effective decision making skills
  • A positive, friendly attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have previous experience supervising staff; YMCA management experience preferred
  • Must be Director certified; must meet EEC guidelines and QRIS Level 2 standards, or in process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions

Oversees all aspects of Center-based programming, including supervision, coordination, promotion, parent relations, scheduling, enrollment, and evaluation.

Supervises and provides leadership to Childcare staff including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching & disciplining.  Provides feedback regularly to staff and holds all accountable to adhering to Association policies and procedures.

Maintains open communication with the Senior Childcare Director and COO about any facility or department issues, including concerns or problems relating to staffing, members, programs or facilities.

Promotes membership enrollment and fosters leadership development by encouraging members to become involved in committees and other volunteer roles.  Provide a high level of member service to all and ensure that all comments and complaints are responded to immediately.

Ensures that program standards, best practices, and safety regulations are followed as established by YUSA, the Department of Early Education & Care, Board of Health, and our risk management insurance company.  

Insures quality supervision and safety of all programs through the development and implementation of handbooks, pick-up and drop-off policies, background checks on all staff and use of National YMCA Child Care Guidelines for all programs.

Maintains all necessary Department of Public Health regulations that apply to youth programs and licensing requirements in conjunction with Association Guidelines.

Builds relationships with families, program participants & YMCA members, as well as connects with people in the Attleboro community to promote the Y and the Childcare program. 

Designs and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on YMCA program guidelines that meet the needs of our program participants. Conducts regular program evaluations to obtain feedback from families.

Demonstrates support for YMCA special events and the Best Friends Campaign by participating and aiding in the delivery of those events.

Assists with the development of the Childcare budget and monitors it regularly. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in the management of the department by following purchasing procedures, operating within budget limitations, and making recommendations related to salaries and program pricing.

Develops resources to expand programs and enhance family involvement.

Attends staff and committee meetings as needed or directed by supervisor.  Participates in regular trainings to meet EEC requirements.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Certifications
