Job Description

The Development Officer supports the mission of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This full-time position is responsible for creating and executing fundraising campaigns, cultivating donor relationships, and securing financial support. This role will manage donor portfolios, write grant proposals, coordinate fundraising events, and analyze data to meet organizational revenue goals. The role requires strong communication, networking, and strategic planning skills. This role will report directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO).

Qualifications

·        Education: A Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, communications, or a related field.

·        Experience: Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, and event planning.

·        Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; strong proficiency with donor management software/database management; strong organizational and time management skills.

·        Community relations experience.  

·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 

Essential Functions

·        Donor Cultivation: Actively identify, build, and maintain relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations.

·        Relationship Management: Manage a portfolio of existing low to mid-level donors to maintain, grow, and ensure long-term engagement.

·        Fundraising Appeals: Develop and implement fundraising appeals from planning to implementation.

·        Project Management: Develop and implement the Annual Campaign Champion Groups from planning to implementation.

·       Grant and Department Writing: Research and write grant proposals, write fundraising appeals, website content, social media text, and external materials.

·        Events: Coordinating fundraising events from planning to implementation.

·        Database Management: Utilize donor databases to analyze data, update records, and generate reports.

·        Supports the CDO in various tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the Development Department.

·        Represent the YMCA at community events and meetings. 

·        Perform other duties as requested. 

·        Remain current in required and voluntary training to promote the growth of the mind, body, and spirit and character values for all. 

·       Use discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information. 

·        Support a culture of gratitude and giving back among colleagues and the community through positive member engagement.
