Camp Collins is a year-round YMCA resident camp and outdoor education center in Gresham, Oregon, serving youth, schools, and community groups across the region. As a key asset of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, the camp delivers high-quality, mission-driven programs while expanding access, strengthening partnerships, and growing sustainable revenue through retreats, outdoor education, and resident camp experiences.

The Executive Director, Camp Collins provides strategic and operational leadership for YMCA Camp Collins, a premier resident camp and outdoor education center of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role carries full accountability for program excellence, financial sustainability, property stewardship, safety oversight, philanthropic growth, and long-term asset strategy.
As a member of the Association Leadership Team, the Executive Director balances strong site-level ownership with system-wide alignment, collaborates closely with peer Executive Directors, and contributes to enterprise-wide strategy and performance.
This position performs all other duties as assigned in support of the YMCA’s mission, strategic priorities, and operational needs.

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5–7 years of progressive leadership in camp, outdoor education, youth development, or nonprofit operations
Demonstrated financial management experience (budgeting, forecasting, revenue growth)
Experience leading seasonal and high-volume staffing models
Strong background in safety, risk management, and crisis response
Experience working with volunteers, advisory boards, or community partners
Proven ability to build, lead, and develop teams
YMCA or accredited camp leadership experience
Experience with fundraising, donor engagement, or capital campaigns
Other Requirements:
Ability to live on or near camp property during resident camp operations
CPR, First Aid, AED, and required trainings upon hire
Availability for extended and irregular hours during peak seasons
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Lead annual operations and long-term strategic planning for Camp Collins
Expand resident camp enrollment and year-round programming
Grow retreat, rental, and outdoor education revenue streams
Align camp operations with association-wide strategy and standards
Financial & Business Management
Develop and manage annual budget and multi-year financial plans
Monitor performance across programs using participation, revenue, and margin data
Partner with finance leadership on forecasting and capital planning
Ensure disciplined decision-making for new programs and investments
Safety, Risk & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all licensing, safety, and youth protection standards
Lead emergency preparedness, incident response, and crisis management
Serve as primary decision-maker during on-site critical incidents
Maintain strong documentation, reporting, and risk mitigation practices
Property & Asset Stewardship
Oversee maintenance, safety, and long-term facility planning
Develop and advance capital improvement and modernization plans
Ensure responsible stewardship of camp property and resources
Philanthropy & Community Engagement
Lead camp-specific fundraising efforts, including scholarships and capital needs
Cultivate donors, alumni, and community partnerships
Represent camp priorities in broader YMCA development strategy
Equity & Access
Expand participation for underserved communities through partnerships and scholarships
Align pricing and outreach strategies to improve affordability and access
Ensure inclusive program design and culturally responsive practices
Staff & Leadership Development
Lead, coach, and develop year-round and seasonal staff
Build a strong leadership pipeline and talent development pathways
Set clear expectations and maintain accountability across teams
Association Collaboration
Partner with YMCA leadership and cross-functional teams (“Colabs”)
Share best practices and support system-wide alignment
Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and strategy
