Directly supervises Membership and Wellness teams; carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, mission and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
This position serves as a member of the Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership over the Membership and Wellness Departments focused on the member experience and healthy living programs. They will also be advancing the YMCA’s mission through designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation of programs and processes that enhance the member and wellness experience.
The Operations Director is someone who shows promise to be an Executive Director/CEO. They will receive coaching and engage in financial development, board development and fundraising.
· Bachelor's degree or a related field equivalent.
· YMCA multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
· Three or more years of experience with program leadership, membership teams, budget management and project management.
· CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
· Current license to drive and record that meets YMCA standards.
· Ability to work with technology including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite social media online database software.
· Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
The Operations Director must become a subject matter expert and innovator in the core programs of the Y including, but not limited to, membership, healthy Living, aquatics, sports, family programming, and any additional Center-specific programs.
Develops and directs high-quality member engagement strategies and programs that support our Ys strategic plan. Establishes plans for growth and continuous improvement of programs and services in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.
Along with CEO provides leadership to the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensure operating budgets meet or exceed targets. Recommend adjustments to the budget to ensure balanced operation and submit relevant reports on current operations in time.
Direct reports include Wellness Coordinator and Membership Staff (Desk) Team.
Recruits, hires, trains and provides ongoing support to diverse staff and volunteer teams. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve organizational goals. Guides others on how to strengthen knowledge skills and competencies that improve organizational performance.
Works closely with CEO to support the Annual Campaign and effectively communicate community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, donors, volunteers, members, community leaders); develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
Engages as an active member of the Upper Midwest State Alliance Peer Community as appropriate.
Ensures compliance with YMCA standards, accreditation requirements, and applicable local, state, and national regulations.
Ensures appropriate staffing coverage and operational support, including hands-on assistance with programming coverage as needed
