Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Program Director is responsible for youth programs and the Kids’ Adventure Center.

Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience is preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
    Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.‌
  • Within 3 months of hire, completion of  CPR, First Aid, AED for infant, child, and adult, Bloodborne Pathogens, Illinois Harassment training, and other training as assigned.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs, including supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams. Onboards and develops them for success.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within the area of responsibility.
  • Develops and monitors the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiles program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs; secures and schedules the needed facilities; and creates and schedules the classes, activities, or events.
  • Ensures members' and community program participants' safety and well-being at all times, by meeting their education, developmental, protective, and nurturing needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
