Under the supervision of the Branch Director of Operations, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the safety of all members during the hours of the pool operation. The Pool Manager will also be responsible for the operation of the pool and ensuring the pool is operating within the set guidelines and regulations.
Previous pool management/supervisory experience required
First-Aid, CRP/AED required (can provide training)
Lifeguarding experience a plus
Current NJ Pool Director certification a plus
Actively guide and participate in the preparation and opening of the summer pool environment.
Give leadership and supervision to the lifeguard staff, gate staff, maintenance staff, and grounds crew. Including scheduling of pool staff and ensuring appropriate coverage.
Ensure facility is equipped appropriately to meet all bathing code and best practice standards. Including but not limited to safety equipment, first aid supplies, and lifeguard gear.
In collaboration with the Senior Aquatic Director, create and maintain site specific YMCA Aquatic Safety policies, practices and guidelines (Aquatic Safety Plan)
Ensure pool staff certifications are current and accessible for review with in the Aquatic Safety Plan.
Ensure all drills and in-services required per the Association Aquatic Safety Plan are scheduled and delivered with attendance and results being recorded.
Ensure positive reinforcement of rules and regulations is a priority to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
Work with lifeguards as a team player, give direction and display leadership qualities, ensure all guards are actively scanning and patrolling their assigned zones of coverage.
Provide breaks for guards as needed and scheduled to ensure the pool is always in guarding ratio.
Knowledge of aquatic and facility operations with regards to pool maintenance, chemical balance, and general facility operations. (Locker room and grounds maintenance)
Ensure security of pool when leaving the pool area – no pool is ever left unguarded for any reason, at any time.
Ensure all staff are executing their responsibilities according to their job description and requirements.
Complete all incidents reports at time of incident, including all pertinent information.
Must keep all certifications current and have the ability to provide documentation of certifications at all times when requested.
Assist with the planning and scheduling of outside agencies for pool use (IE: camps, childcare, rentals)
Professional YMCA appearance required of incumbent and their staff
Monitor and assist in the cleanliness of the pool and pool deck.
Prepare necessary reports when needed.
Attend mandatory meeting as required.
Work in tandem with the Camp Director and/or Director of Operations to ensure operational success at the Oakcrest Pool and Camp site.
CPR/FIRST AID - AED - Will train
Lifeguarding certification a plus
Current NJ Pool Director certification a plus
