The Sr Center Director oversees all administrative operations for the YMCA Senior Center. Manages the Senior Meal Programs, WIAAA funding, SHIP Programs, financial reporting for Grants, Social Isolation & Outreach and any additional Senior Services needed for the community. The Director Ensures agency is compliant with Grant requirements. They will plan, coordinate, and implement quality Senior programs and services. This position will recruit, hire, train and support assigned staff and volunteers. This role represents the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
-Bachelors Degree required. Preferred- Human Services, Social Services, Recreation, Business, Medical or equivalent.
-Two years of Management Experience, preferably at a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
-Experience with senior citizens preferred.
-Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
-Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, computer and public relations. Must possess management skills and be able to lead effectively with a positive approach.
-Must be able to show sound judgment and good decision-making; the ability to lead others and show skills to create authentic relationships with others.
-Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations and partners.
1. Recruits, hires, trains, supervises staff and volunteers for the Senior Center and surrounding area meal sites. Learns all position duties. Fills in for staff as needed. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Assigns roles, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers.
2. Provides onboarding to new staff including dept specific training, time sheets, needed certifications, emergency procedures, incident/accident forms, etc. Ensures proper records of staff certifications are current and complete.
3. Approves bi-weekly staff timecards and needed time off requests in an online payroll system.
4. Holds regular staff meetings. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to support and motivate staff to help them achieve goals and be good team members. Coordinates with other sites; Bushnell.
5. Ensures grant writing is accurate and turned in timely. As well as compliant with all WIAAA funding or other grants related. Keeps track of all incoming and outgoing usage through appropriate accounting practices.
6. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Makes sure that grant and program standards are met and all procedures are followed. Sends required reporting assignments and participates in regular audits.
7. Provides and Coordinates innovative quality Senior Citizens focused programming and services.
8. Facilitates communication through various entities including the preparation and distribution of the monthly newsletter! Putting out Ads on radio, newspaper, community brief and other online media sources.
9. Works with vendors to cater and deliver meal orders for distribution. Oversees kitchen Meal Prepping. In charge of Menu Development and Packing Protocols. Helps to comply with all nutritional needed components and offering healthier balanced options. Guarantees staff maintain approved temps and accurate records for meals.
10. Develops and Maintains effective collaborative working relationships within the community & other organizations.
11. Implements and Manages operating plans to promote the YMCA Senior Center and or Y Membership growth. Executes strategies to ensure that senior participants connect with one another and to the YMCA.
12. Monitors daily operations and makes certain best practices are being met. Conducts ride-alongs and surprise visits to meal sites. Adheres to all state, local, and YMCA health & safety regulations.
13. Maintains all files, records, supplies, purchasing orders, and inventory and retains records for the Senior Center.
14. Purchases supplies, equipment, and vehicles with funds as needed with permission and under close supervision.
15. Acts as a Senior Citizens Center spokesperson, when called upon. Must attend so many health fairs and meetings throughout the year to stay in compliance. Models positive relationship-building skills in all interactions.
16. Holds special events for Seniors: Birthday/Holiday parties and thank you or recognition events.
17. Communicates and updates front desk staff of programming changes or scheduling needs.
18. Assists in the marketing, advertising and distribution of program information while staying in accordance with Y branding such as: creating flyers, putting together emails, social media posts etc.
19. Develops and monitors funding plans and time management skills to meet fiscal objectives. Works with the COO & CEO regarding financials, program/services needs and participant numbers periodically.
20. Responds to all staff/volunteers, member and community inquiries, suggestions & complaints in a timely manner.
21. Attends Staff Meetings and communicates effectively with other Directors and Staff.
22. Compiles program data and reports. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and participation of programming.
23. Develops and Maintains the budget for the Senior Center, including identifying funding sources and actively researching, seeking out and writing grants that could be available for Y Senior Programs.
24. Assists in YMCA fundraising events and special activities.
25. Performs additional responsibilities as directed by WIAAA, other grant requirements or as assigned by the CEO.
