Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Executive Director of the Westview YMCA is a collaborative individual with excellent communication skills leading Nebraska’s first YMCA connected to a high school through an innovative partnership with the state’s largest school district, Omaha Public Schools. The successful candidate will work with Westview High School administration to program 47,000 square feet of shared space including an indoor pool, auxiliary gym, and fitness studio to provide meaningful opportunities for YMCA members and Westview High School Students within the 66,000 square foot facility. This leader will serve the rapidly growing Bennington community by developing a strong staff team, recruiting volunteers, and delivering quality YMCA programs and services while prioritizing the unique nature of the partnership and location within its second year of operations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent
  • Three or more years successfully leading people &/or operations, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development
  • Successful community engagement experience, including development of volunteers
  • Successful fundraising experience
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred
  • Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; membership-specific training; BLS CPR; First Aid; (provided by YMCA)
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
  • Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training
  • Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities
  • Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift
  • Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff
  • Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff
Essential Functions
  1. Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of leadership staff.
  2. Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
  3. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service area.
  4. Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  5. Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  6. Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  7. Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  8. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  9. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  10. Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
  11. Serves as a member of Y leadership and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
