Job Description

The Marketing & Communications Manager supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This role helps build the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s mission and impact through content creation, digital communications, social media management, and design support.
The manager collaborates closely with the Director of Philanthropy, Member Engagement Manager, and Department Directors to ensure cohesive messaging, consistent branding, and effective communication across the Association. This position includes flexible remote work options, with availability for in-person meetings, events, and on-site needs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous professional experience in membership, marketing, and/or sales preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Strong design skills using Canva, with the ability to maintain brand consistency across campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience managing organizational social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Must have strong interpersonal, public relations, and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in the creation, design, and distribution of program information to support membership, fundraising, and marketing goals.
  • Supports media relations by drafting press releases, gathering content, and assisting with outreach efforts.
  • Maintains updated lists of media contacts and digital communication partners.
  • Manages and updates the YMCA website and all social media platforms.
  • Creates engaging digital content and visual assets using Canva while maintaining YMCA brand standards.
  • Helps develop social media content calendars, schedules posts, and monitors engagement.
  • Provides analytics and related reports across digital platforms.
  • Supports relationship-building efforts with community partners, stakeholders, and member groups.
  • Assists with community outreach, tabling, and presentations as needed.
  • Supports staff, volunteers, and members in understanding the charitable mission of the Y; assists in assigned aspects of fundraising campaigns.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating special events such as Healthy Kids Day, Fall Festival, Tri the Y, and other association-wide initiatives.
  • Provides on-site event support, including communications, photography, social content, and setup as needed.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule that includes remote work options while meeting program, events, and communication deadlines.
  • Provides timely reporting, documentation, and communication support to enhance organizational effectiveness.
