Job Description

Under the direction of the CEO, the Program Director will provide visionary leadership and operational oversight for program development. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality, mission-driven experiences that meet the diverse needs of our community and support the YMCA’s strategic priorities. This leader will drive innovation, consistency, safety, and engagement across all programs, while fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and accountability. The role also includes staff development, budget oversight, program and membership growth/retention and strong collaboration with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of services and impactful community outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an education related field, recreation, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with local organizations and community stakeholders to support program expansion and relevance.
  • One to two years of management experience preferred.
  • Upon hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, Employee Orientation, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards, if applicable.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
Essential Functions

1. Ensures programs and services meet community needs.
2. Leads efforts to identify and implement new programs that align with community needs, YMCA strategic plan, and incentivize family memberships.
3. Provide active leadership for all programs/services with a focus on incentiving household membership growth.
4. Develop and implement strategies to increase member/program participant satisfaction.
5. Monitor program metrics and trends to inform planning and improve performance.
6. Collaborate with other department leaders to align efforts with program goals.
7. Provide leadership and guidance to program staff to ensure consistent quality, innovation, and effectiveness in all program areas.

8. Cultivates relationships with key community leaders and local professionals to enhance program visibility and alignment with community needs.
9. Recruits, hires, supervises, mentors, and evaluates program staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality programs and a positive staff culture.
10. Assists in the marketing and distribution of assigned program information.
11.  Implements systems for regular program evaluation, including staff performance, participant satisfaction, and impact measurement, and uses data to inform continuous improvement.

12. Manages assigned programs, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities, or events.
13. Ensure programs are aligned with best practices and operate at the highest standards of safety, engagement, and impact.
14. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
15. Organizes department related special events, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
16. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
17. Supports efforts to secure and manage funding through grants or sponsorships aligned with youth development programs.
