The Sports Complex Director in Schaumburg, Illinois provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the Golden Corridor Family YMCA new indoor Sports Complex in Schaumburg, Illinois. This position is responsible for driving the growth, reputation, and success of the complex through innovative programming, strong community partnership, and operational excellence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in sports facility management, recreation administration, or large-scale sports programming.
• Proven ability to grow participation, manage budgets, and achieve measurable results.
• Demonstrated experience building partnerships and generating new business opportunities.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and staff development skills.
• Excellent communication and public relations ability.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
• Lead and oversee the daily operations of the Schaumburg Sports Complex, including batting cages, simulated golf, turf fields, basketball courts, and multipurpose areas.
• Develop, launch, and grow a wide range of youth and adult sports leagues, tournaments, and special events that promote participation, inclusion, and excellence.
• Build and maintain strong community relationships with local sport organizations, schools, park districts, and sponsors to increase visibility and partnership opportunities.
• Create and manage a comprehensive business development plan that drives growth in participation, sponsorship, and facility rentals.
• Develop and oversee marketing and promotional strategies for leagues, tournaments, and programs in collaboration with the YMCA’s marketing team.
• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of staff, referees, coaches, and part-time personnel who deliver high-quality, mission-driven service.
• Manage complex scheduling, including rentals, tournaments, and all seasonal program calendars ensuring optimal facility use and member satisfaction.
• Oversee budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to achieve revenue goals and operational sustainability.
• Ensure that all operations meet YMCA standards for safety, cleanliness, risk management, and customer care.
• Demonstrate initiative and leadership by actively identifying opportunities for new programs, partnerships, and community engagement.
• Serve as a visible ambassador for the YMCA in Schaumburg, representing the Y’s mission and values through sports and community events.
