Job Description

This position is primarily tasked with assisting the Aquatics Program Director in leadership for the aquatics facility, lifeguards, and aquatics programs. This position is responsible for delivery of high quality aquatics programming, as well as managing to deliver safety, quality, and impact. This position supervises staff and volunteers, and may assist with managing community relationships.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. High School Diploma or Equivalent
  3. A minimum of one year related program development and/or program management experience.
  4. Minimum of 6 months of leadership experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
  5. Demonstrated computer skills in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office environment
  6. Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications or equivalent - prior to starting if hired
  7. Intro to Y’s Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting if hired
  8. Certified Pool Operate certification within 90 day of hire
  9. Additional training to be completed and maintained afterwards. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift up to ten pounds of weight, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job includes close and distance vision, and may at times require peripheral vision.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in an office, aquatic, and/or fitness oriented environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. This position works a standard 40 hour work week and will often work evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate management of aquatics program activities and representation of the organization at events.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Create, develop and implement new and existing programs.
  2. Manage assigned program areas and activities, ensuring programs comply with all applicable YMCA standards and methods of operation and continually strive to attain the highest possible level of quality.
  3. Expand participation in assigned programs.
  4. Evaluate and review assigned programs to ensure consistent quality and safety.
  5. Assist in pool testing and mechanical maintenance
  6. Assist in the development and distribution of materials to market and promote programs
  7. Assist with and ensure budget goals are achieved.
  8. Determine staffing needs and manage the recruiting and hiring of staff.
  9. Manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff to ensure satisfactory job performance.
  10. Manage and maintain staffing to cover all areas of assigned program(s).
  11. Effectively maintain collaborative relationships with members and community organizations. 
  12. Support the objectives of the organization as embodied in the mission statement and values.
