The Opportunity

We are seeking an Executive Director to lead the New Tampa Family YMCA, a thriving family center of the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA with:

  • A $3.8 million operating budget
  • More than 2,500 household membership units
  • Signature aquatics programs including the Stingrays Swim Team, swim leagues, and a Masters Swim program
  • 50M competitive outdoor swimming pool
  • Over 55,000sf facility that boosts large indoor gym, wellness center, personal training/ group exercise studios, youth development, and program areas
  • Talented and highly skilled on-site leadership team
  • Active and engaged Volunteer Advisory Board

This is a dynamic leadership role for a mission-driven professional ready to expand membership, deepen community impact, and lead a talented team in one of Tampa’s fastest-growing markets.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven leadership experience managing large-scale health, wellness, or recreation operations – preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit setting.
  • Track record of driving membership growth, community engagement, fiscal management, and fundraising success.
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
  • A relationship-builder who can connect with members, staff, volunteers, and community leaders.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-driven, and adaptable, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must reside in the Tampa Metro Area (or be willing to relocate) and maintain a strong community presence.
     
Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

As Executive Director, you will:

  • Grow Membership & Programs – Lead the New Tampa Y to achieve Association scorecard goals, deliver high-quality member experiences, and expand program reach.
  • Lead & Develop Staff – Inspire and support a committed team that thrives in a cause-driven culture.
  • Build Community Partnerships – Maintain a strong and engaged Advisory Board, foster relationships with civic and business leaders, and position the Y as a community hub.
  • Drive Fundraising & Development – Advance the Annual Campaign and other financial development efforts to ensure lasting community impact.
  • Steward Facilities & Resources – Oversee safe, well-maintained facilities, equipment, and grounds in partnership with the Association Property team.
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance – Uphold all safety, risk management, and child protection standards to safeguard members, staff, and volunteers.
