The YMCA Of the Triangle is hiring an Associate Branch Executive of Membership at the Durham YMCA. 
Job Description

Reporting to the Branch Executive Director and working collaboratively with YMCA staff, the Associate Branch Executive – Adult/Membership provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Aquatics, Healthy Living/Wellness, and Membership Experience Departments at the Durham YMCA. This role is responsible for cultivating strong relationships with members, volunteers, and program participants, while ensuring that all departmental functions align with the mission, values, and policies of the YMCA of the Triangle Area, Inc. The Associate Exec plays a key role in advancing community impact through high-quality programs, member engagement, and team development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in membership programming, program development and personnel development.
    Experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building through programs.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and programs.
  • Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Requires a positive attitude, high level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Demonstrates initiative, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of business drivers for membership, aquatics, and wellness programming.
  • Maintain high level of discretion and confidentiality in all areas.
  • Capacity to assist in the management of facilities, equipment, and programs.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and work in a variety of computer programs.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.
Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Provides high-level vision, education, and leadership to the Aquatics, Healthy Living, and Member Engagement Departments, planning and directing in conjunction with related staff to serve all aspects of the YMCA community and ensure programs meet community needs and align with the YMCA mission
  • Serves as a member of the Branch Senior Leadership Team, offering strategic direction, professionalism, and support to FT and PT staff
  • Represents the branch on YMCA of the Triangle work teams as needed, providing association-wide leadership and policy guidance

Department Oversight & Supervision

  • Supervises the Aquatics Director to ensure all aquatic programs and facilities meet the expectations of the Board of Directors
  • Supervises Member Engagement, Group Exercise, and Healthy Living Directors, overseeing Welcome Center operations, Family Programs, Volunteer engagement, and Healthy Living initiatives
  • Supports the Facility Director and collaborates with the Regional Operations Director to maintain a high level of cleanliness and campus presentation
  • Oversees risk management for Aquatics and Wellness programs, ensuring compliance with Board expectations and regulatory standards

Program Development & Innovation

  • Inspires, leads, educates, and coaches Adult Departments, modeling relational engagement and ensuring high-quality program delivery, while maintaining a visible presence throughout programs and facilities
  • Collaborates on the design, delivery, evaluation, and innovation of branch and association Healthy Living programs, fostering cross-department collaboration and sharing best practices (e.g., IQ Teams, Adult Associate Meetings, Impact Sprints)
  • Oversees Healthy Living performance indicators to enhance engagement, retention, and program quality
    Utilizes experience survey data, in partnership with the ARC Department, to inform decisions and improve member retention

Staff Development & Team Culture

  • Develops professional development and coaching plans for full-time staff in collaboration with Learning and Leadership Development and the ARC Department
  • Regularly schedules team meetings and trainings for full-time and part-time staff
  • Manages the Leadership Engagement Team schedule and coordination

Budget & Financial Stewardship

  • Develops, coordinates, and manages Membership, Wellness, and Aquatics budgets to meet revenue goals and control staff expenses
  • Plays a major role in the annual We Build People Campaign, including volunteer recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship for the Community Gifts segment

Community Engagement & Representation

  • Actively participates on the Branch Advisory Board and interfaces with the broader community on behalf of the YMCA
  • Promotes the YMCA through internal and external marketing strategies
  • Represents the YMCA in community activities and partnerships
