The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City has an immediate opening for an Executive Camp Director for newly acquired Camp DaKaNi.

YMCA Camp DaKaNi, a 33-acre facility in northeast Oklahoma City. 

Current camp facilities include an activity center, lodge/office building, rock wall, archery range, large pavilion, water activities, trails and additional program activities. Programs will launch with summer day camp in 2026 and expand to include outdoor education, field trips, facility rentals, year-round youth and teen programs, family events, and community collaborations.

Job Description

The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is seeking a cause-driven leader to oversee the operations and future growth of the newly acquired YMCA Camp DaKaNi, a 33-acre facility in northeast Oklahoma City. The Executive Camp Director will lead staff, volunteers, and community partnerships to deliver high-quality camp and outdoor experiences that strengthen youth, families, and the community. 
 
Current camp facilities include an activity center, lodge/office building, rock wall, archery range, large pavilion, water activities, trails and additional program activities. Programs will launch with summer day camp in 2026 and expand to include outdoor education, field trips, facility rentals, year-round youth and teen programs, family events, and community collaborations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide overall leadership and management of YMCA Camp DaKaNi, including program planning, staff and volunteer leadership, safety, budgeting, fundraising, and facility operations. 
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and supervise 2-3 year-round leadership staff and a team of seasonal staff.
  • Directs develops and manages all day-to-day operations of the camp and program extensions, in compliance with the strategic plan, association and accrediting agency standards and requirements. 
  • Acquire American Camping Association (ACA) accreditation.
  • Maintain and operate in accordance with ACA standards and other industry best practices. 
  • Cultivate partnerships with schools, community organizations, and agencies to expand reach and impact. 
  • Provide leadership and support to the annual community campaign and other fundraising efforts. 
  • Coordinates the development of a camp council and committees. 
  • Partner with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications to create and implement effective marketing strategies. 
  • Work with Vice President of Property to ensure proper upkeep of facilities, grounds, equipment, and program supplies. 
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and staff by implementing and monitoring risk management practices, emergency procedures, and safety standards across all programs and facilities, while upholding YMCA child protection policies and best practices. 
  • Collaborate and align programming strategically with YMCA Camp Classen and other association initiatives. 
  • Represent the YMCA in the community by participating in Chamber, Rotary, and other civic activities. 
  • Collect, analyze, and report program data to support planning and decision-making.
  • Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with families, donors, staff, and volunteers.

This position ensures the growth and success of YMCA Camp DaKaNi by providing safe, engaging, and mission-driven programs in well-maintained facilities. Through strong leadership and community partnerships, the Camp Associate Executive Director will expand access to outdoor experiences that build character, confidence, and connection for all.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience, including staff supervision and program leadership. 
  • Significant camp leadership experience required. 
  • Certifications in CPR/PR, AED, O2, and First Aid (YMCA will provide training if not current). 
  • Must complete all required YMCA compliance training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. 
  • Ability to lead independently while fostering teamwork and collaboration. 
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. 
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
