Grants Director

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Grants Director to join our Financial Development team. 
Job Description

The Grants Director works closely with the Y's Executive and Leadership team to lead and maximize the organization’s grants revenue and ensure ongoing funding sustainability. This position plays a critical role in the YMCA by securing ongoing annual, operating, program, capital, and additional funding to support the YMCA’s strategic plan, priorities, initiatives, and mission.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience, skills, and knowledge.
  • Five or more years of experience in grant writing, submission, and management.
  • Grant Professionals Certification (GPC) or related certification is a plus.
  • Has a positive attitude, and is thoughtful, respectful, and resourceful.
  • Must be computer savvy and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
  • Highly organized, self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, writing, and editing skills.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with diverse people and be able to relate well with all levels of staff.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for managing the cultivation, solicitation, post-award process, and stewardship for grants and gifts from philanthropic sources.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with center leadership, program staff, and volunteers to identify, strategize, and draft grant narratives as identified.
  • Research and identify grant opportunities and application processes.
  • Ensure grants are professionally written and submitted on time, and support the mission and specific needs of the association.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with current grantors and research new grant opportunities locally and nationally.
  • Manage prospects by recording appointments, contact information, communication, and next steps in Raisers Edge.
  • Prepare written materials, including relevant case statements, proposals, information bulletins, and correspondence with major/leadership donors to inform them of the impact of their gift(s), and to keep them up-to-date about the YMCA.
  • Support the YMCA’s financial development plan and strategies, and advance a culture of philanthropy among staff and volunteers.
