Association Information:
The YMCA of the East Valley is a $30 million organization with over 800 employees and a growing $450,000 Annual Campaign. The service area encompasses most of San Bernardino County, the fifth-most populous county in California and the 14th-most populous in the United States.
The association is comprised of 5 branches: Redlands, Highland, San Bernardino, Licensed Childcare Services, and Camp Edwards, as well as operating over 50 childcare sites. Operations consist of a state funded preschool, 5 swimming pools, a 150 bed overnight camp, youth sports, aquatics programming with a focus on Safety Around Water (SAW), day camp, ASES/ELOP and licensed fee based and state funded childcare, the famous Great Y Circus®, and a legal aid clinic.
Under the vision and direction of the President & CEO and Association Strategic Plan, Executive Directors who are motivated by an environment that encourages innovation, and entrepreneurial leadership will thrive in this association. Executive Directors are expected to be the face of their YMCA in their local communities, leaning into community engagement. Association vision and direction also empowers Executive Directors with local decision making in a decentralized leadership structure, emphasizing ownership and accountability.
Highland Branch:
The Highland Family YMCA is a 33,000 square foot building with a $1.7 million operating budgeted. Built in 2002 and 2007, this branch operates through a unique partnership with the City of Highland. Beginning in 2006, the City contracted to the Y to operate the facility and provide recreational programs to the community. This Y operates like a typical YMCA branch and the facility includes a health and wellness area, group exercise rooms, large gymnasium, commercial kitchen, indoor pool and various classrooms for camp, childcare and various other classes.
The Highland Family YMCA, Executive Director is responsible for oversight of the operation of the Highland branch. Including, but not limited to program and membership (1,200 units) development and oversite, marketing and outreach, facilities and safety, volunteer and staff development, financial development and fundraising ($55,000 growing Annual Campaign), grant management and compliance, community relations and engagement-especially with city staff and counsel, and collaborations with community agencies, school districts, and partners. Must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous, growth focused and deadline-oriented workplace.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Executive Director will oversee the comprehensive operations of a YMCA branch, including membership services, marketing initiatives, program development, facility management, volunteer and staff development, financial strategies, and community partnerships.

Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent field.
Six or more years of management experience, preferably within a YMCA or nonprofit setting.
Proficiency in overseeing operations through volunteer and staff development, budget management, marketing, and program innovation.
Experience in cultivating volunteer involvement and recruiting top community leaders.
Ability to effectively connect with diverse community groups.
Proven ability to build genuine relationships with stakeholders.
Capability to establish partnerships with community organizations.
YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

Leadership and Development: Oversees branch management team of 4 directors over 50 employees.
Fiscal Management: Develop, manage, and monitor the branch's $1.7M operating budget to meet or exceed financial objectives.
Financial Development: Direct and grow financial development activities, including leading the Annual Campaigns ($55,000 and growing) by recruiting key leaders, campaigners and donors to meet branch and association goals. Special events consist of the Annual Highland Run, netting an average of $14,000 annually.
Program Development: Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.
Staff Engagement & Development: Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of branch staff.
Facility Quality & Safety: Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
Board and Volunteer Development: The new Executive Director will explore establishing deeper local volunteer leadership through the development of a local branch advisory board. Directs the volunteer activities of the branch.
Planning: Directs the implementation of the association's strategic planning at the local branch level through the development of the tactical branch operating plan annually. Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to ensure enrollment targets are met.
Partnerships & Community Outreach: Serves as the key spokesperson and chief advocate for Highland Family YMCA, representing and promoting the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with City of Highland staff and counsel, community agencies in the branch service area.
Association: Serves as a member of YMCA Executive Leadership Team and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA of The East Valley.
