We are looking for the next entrepreneurial servant leader to take our flagship branch to the next level. The Redlands Family YMCA, Executive Director is responsible for oversight of the entire operation of the Redlands branch. Including, but not limited to program and membership development and oversite, marketing and outreach, facilities and safety, volunteer and staff development, financial development and fundraising ($95,000 growing Annual Campaign), grant management and compliance, government contracts (primarily ASES funded childcare), community relations and engagement, and collaborations with community agencies and partners. Must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous, growth focused and deadline-oriented workplace.

With a $6.3M operating budget, 150 employees (7 full-time exempt), and spanning an impressive 75,000 square feet located in the heart of Downtown Redlands, this branch is the flagship facility of the YMCA of the East Valley and hub of activity, wellness and community gathering. Spanning an impressive 75,000 square feet, the Redlands Family YMCA is a hub of activity and wellness. This state-of-the-art facility boasts a 3-pool indoor/outdoor aquatics center, comprehensive health and wellness areas, and an expansive gymnasium. The facilities, constructed between 1927 and 2013, benefited from a transformative $16 million renovation and expansion project completed from 2012 to 2016.

Diverse Programs for All Ages

Branch program and membership operations consist of comprehensive health and wellness programming, 3,500 member units, 10 ASES funded childcare sites, day camp, diverse aquatics programming - including bussing in every 2nd grader in Redlands Unified School District for safety around water (SAW), youth sports, home of the Great Y Circus® - the oldest community circus in the US, and various other youth and adult classes and programs.

Qualifications

Experience & Background: 6+ years of progressive people and program leadership experience in the YMCA, another non-profit.  Must have the ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.  Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, financial development and monitoring of branch budget (mix of fee-based and government funding), marketing and public relations, and program development.  Experience in management and development of volunteer committee involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.  Foundation and government grant management expertise is strongly preferred. 

 

Essential Functions

·         Leadership and Development: Oversees branch management team of eight directors over 150 employees and works closely with association director of facilities.

·         Fiscal Management: Develop, manage, and monitor the branch's $6.3M operating budget to meet or exceed financial objectives.

·         Financial Development: Direct and grow financial development activities, including leading the Annual Campaigns ($95,000 and growing) and recruiting key leaders and campaigners to meet branch and association goals.

·         Program Development: Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.

·         Staff Engagement & Development: Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of branch staff.

·         Facility Quality & Safety: Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment. 

·         Board and Volunteer Development: The new Executive Director will explore establishing deeper local volunteer leadership through the development of a local branch advisory board. Directs the volunteer activities of the branch. 

·         Planning: Directs the implementation of the association's strategic planning at the local branch level through the development of the tactical branch operating plan annually. Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to ensure enrollment targets are met.

·         Partnerships & Community Outreach: Serves as the key spokesperson and chief advocate for Redlands Family YMCA, representing and promoting the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in the branch service area.

Association: Serves as a member of YMCA Executive Leadership Team and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA of The East Valley. 

Cause-Driven Leadership Competencies

Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; master’s degree preferred.  The YMCA Organizational Leader certificate is required within three years from date of hire.  Current YMCA leadership certification strongly preferred (Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader).
