The Program Director oversees campus activities for conferences and guests.
Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees the campus and conference programs with a focus on developing new revenue-generating programs and activities for conferences and events. Increase program participation and revenue in the non-summer season and ensure relevant programs and activities meet the needs of our members, guests, and conferees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the Program Coordinator, Waterfront Director, Arts & Humanities Supervisor and Seasonal Program Team Leaders.

Qualifications
  • B.S. or B.A. in recreation, education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of YMCA or similar work experience, which includes supervision, budgeting, and program development.
  • YMCA Director Certification(or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong organizational skills, including goal setting, program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, supervisory, and computer skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Prolonged periods of exposure to various types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Essential Functions
  • Develops, plans and implements programs and activities for members, guests, and conferees.
    Measures progress against strategic goals and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Working with the VP of Programs, ensures the guest experience in programs and activities aligns with the mission.
  • Develop shoulder season and winter program offerings focusing on growing participation and revenue in the non-summer season.
  • Continuously evaluate programs to ensure Silver Bay offers relevant programs that meet the needs of members, guests, and conferees.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Works with the VP of the Program to develop educational program elements that support the initiatives within the local communities.
  • Works with the VP and other departments to develop revenue-generating programs and activities for conferences and events.
  • Works with the VP and other departments to support the needs of Silver Bay-initiated conferences and events.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas.  
  • Organizes people and activities for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • As a 24-hour operation, all staff may be asked to work weekend, evening, or night shifts and/or holidays in order to serve our members, guests, and program participants.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
