Job Description

The Analyst, Research and Analytics Practices will support research, measurement, and evaluation for assigned projects, including the Character Development Learning Initiative (CDLI+), Emerging Opportunities, and work within the YMCA of the USA Health and Wellness Practice Area.

The Analyst will play a vital role in supporting the YMCA's strategic initiatives by:

  • Evaluating Programs:Conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Supporting Health Initiatives:Ensuring the timely and accurate submission of health-related evaluation data.
  • Promoting Youth Development:Enhancing youth character development programs to achieve measurable positive outcomes.
  • Advancing Chronic Disease Prevention:Contributing to community-based interventions aimed at reducing chronic disease prevalence.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
    Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data collection, trend analysis, qualitative and quantitative data analysis is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 or more years of experience in administration and execution of evaluation projects is preferred.
  • Demonstrated research experience related to positive youth development, character development, youth outcomes, and/or program quality, including designing and conducting evaluations, analyzing data, and reporting findings to inform and improve program practices and outcomes preferred.
  • Experience working with health data, including sensitive health information, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with common data management information systems and data management business processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical analysis software (such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, R) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and provide in-person and web-based presentations including training on highly technical processes, data entry, evaluation systems, and analysis results required.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, data visualization software and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated outstanding conceptual, analytic, and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders, including participants, funders, and partners.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills; ability to work and reason independently, as well as within a team.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or network is Experience with the YMCA movement is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10 percent of time.
Essential Functions
  • Conduct and support comprehensive evaluations of assigned programs, practices, and initiatives.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on youth outcomes information from YMCA network and third-party sources.
  • Gather, analyze and report on health data, in compliance with HIPAA standards, from YMCA network and third-party sources.
  • Design, enhance, and implement research and evaluation strategies for assigned areas, including qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Design reports to communicate research findings, including templates for standardized, customized, and automated reports
  • Support strategic relationships with partners and funders as needed
  • Attend internal and advisory meetings as required and collaborate with external contractors on research, measurement, and evaluation projects
  • Design and administer surveys for a variety of audiences and analyze and report on survey results
  • Document evaluation strategy, assess validity, and recommend enhancements; maintain related research and evaluation resources
  • May conduct site visits for research and evaluation strategies
  • Analyze data to assess program and practice quality and impact
  • Support the development, updating and revision of existing resources
  • Provide consultation on measurement and outcomes to ensure effective implementation
  • Provide customer services support to local Ys, partners and Y-USA on research, evaluation, analytics and insights
  • Other duties as assigned

The Analyst will play a critical role in organizational efforts to demonstrate the contribution of YMCAs to community strengthening through youth and adult pathways, and in department efforts to build and maintain research-based learning capacity at Y-USA and in YMCAs. This position empowers YMCAs and the Movement to evaluate performance and use the results to communicate achievements and to drive the continual improvement of Y to better serve participants and to foster growth, innovation, and funding opportunities.
