POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Youth Services and in alignment with the mission and policies of the YMCA of Southeastern NC, the Youth Services Regional Director is responsible for the multi-site management of the YMCA of SENC’s Afterschool Program, Summer Camp Programs, and Preschool site in New Hanover County. This role includes direct oversight of curriculum development, daily scheduling, staff recruitment and retention, financial management, volunteer development, community engagement, and the maintenance of strong partnerships with local schools and other stakeholders. The Director will supervise Youth Services District Directors, Site Directors, Preschool Director, and other assigned staff to ensure high-quality program delivery across all locations. The Youth Services Regional Director will foster an excellent experience for children and families, promoting YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith while managing the expansion and scalability of programming to meet the needs of a large and diverse community.

Bachelor degree in education or related field.
At least 21 years of age and / or training significant for the YMCA program.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
4 years experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
3 year supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/DEPARTMENT: Youth Services
Staff Management and Development: Recruit, interview, train, mentor, supervise, evaluate, and retain full-time staff, including Youth Services District Directors, and part-time staff including Site Coordinators, Preschool Director, and other assigned staff. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, professional growth, and alignment with YMCA values.
Staff Retention and Recognition: Develop and implement a comprehensive staff retention strategy, focusing on team morale, professional development, and recognition, ensuring a sustainable workforce for all programs across the county.
Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local schools, community organizations, churches, and other partners to ensure successful program delivery and community engagement in all areas of responsibility.
Program and Curriculum Implementation: Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of curriculum for the Afterschool Program, Summer Camps, and Preschool, ensuring that all programs meet YMCA standards and respond to community needs.
Behavior and Emergency Management: Ensure adherence to YMCA behavior management policies and emergency procedures, providing a safe and enriching environment for all participants and staff across the various sites.
Financial Oversight and Budget Management: Manage and oversee program budgets for all sites, including monthly forecasting and annual budget planning. Ensure financial goals are met and report financial status using DAXKO or other CRM systems.
Program Evaluation and Reporting: Develop and implement robust evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness across all sites. Use feedback to drive continuous improvements and share results with key stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
Staff Scheduling and Problem-Solving: Oversee staff scheduling for the district, ensuring adequate coverage and the smooth operation of all programs. Address day-to-day staffing and program challenges, resolving issues in a timely and effective manner.
Support and Mentorship: Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback to Youth Services District Directors, Site Directors, Preschool Director, and other key staff, supporting their professional growth and problem-solving capabilities.
Collaboration with Subcontractors and Partner Organizations: Foster and maintain strong partnerships with subcontractors, school districts, and community organizations to ensure effective program delivery, enhance quality, and achieve YMCA goals.
Policy and Procedure Adherence: Ensure all programs are in compliance with YMCA policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations. Maintain a high level of consistency across all sites, including the accurate tracking of financial and operational data through DAXKO.
Parent and School Communication: Address and resolve concerns from parents, subcontractors, and school administration in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring strong relationships and high satisfaction levels across all locations.
Promotion of YMCA Mission and Values: Actively promote and model the YMCA’s mission, vision, and core values (honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith) in all aspects of program delivery, staff interactions, and community engagement.
CACFP and SFSP Compliance: Oversee the accurate collection of meal counts and ensure all records for CACFP and SFSP programs are maintained to compliance standards at all sites.
Program Development and Improvement: Lead the expansion and continuous improvement of programs, working closely with staff and stakeholders to identify opportunities for new programs and increased community impact, especially in scaling up afterschool and summer camp programs to meet the needs of a larger population.
Team Collaboration and Leadership: Actively contribute to YMCA leadership team meetings, providing input on strategic planning and organizational growth. Collaborate with other leaders to ensure the overall success and growth of Youth Services.
Program and Site Expansion: Lead and actively drive the expansion of afterschool and summer camp programs in and beyond New Hanover County, identifying new opportunities for growth, developing new sites, and working with community stakeholders to scale services across additional areas. Ensure the sustainability and quality of programs as they grow.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond in emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants and staff, while following established emergency protocols.
Support Annual Campaign and Special Projects: Actively support and participate in the YMCA’s Annual Campaign and fundraising efforts, while identifying and supporting other initiatives or activities that can generate additional funding and resources for the programs.
