Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about health, wellness, and social service. The Healthy Connections Program Coordinator will act as a health and wellness coach to disadvantaged young adults establishing independence in the community. Experience with, or a certificate in, personal training and/or fitness instruction are a big plus. This individual will provide leadership and oversight for our new Healthy Connections Program, which includes full YMCA membership and access to the Y’s fitness, aquatics, and group exercise facilities. Program participants are provided with personalized health and wellness coaching, along with care coordination, which includes referrals for: mentoring; post-secondary education direction; workforce development; and guidance counseling. Access to additional wrap-around services will be coordinated by the Program Coordinator. Meetings between the program participants and outside agency personnel will be arranged and may take place at the Y. This Program Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of the Healthy Connections program, including development, delivery, management, evaluation, and reporting. This individual will work collaboratively with Y leadership staff and maintain a positive image of the YMCA. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is required. Degrees in exercise science, physical education, counseling, or social services are preferred.

· Experience with, or a certificate in, personal training and/or fitness instruction are a plus.

· Excellent motivational abilities and facilitation of positive reinforcement teaching mechanisms.

· Experience with outcomes reporting, databases, CRMs, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Current Florida driver’s license.

· Collaborative nature with strong decision-making skills.

· Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects in fast paced environment and meets deadlines.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement our new Healthy Connections program.
  • Recruit, instruct, and guide young adults through wellness activities centered on physical fitness and healthy lifestyle habits, combined with referral and guidance towards resources that will improve their futures.
  • Ensure the program meets all applicable standards and work collaboratively with staff, participants, and external stakeholders to identify new program strategies and community partnerships with a focus on implementing a health-centered and data-informed service delivery environment.
  • Seek and cultivate partnerships with community agencies based on program trends and barriers participants are experiencing.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to plan and manage the Healthy Connections program budget.
  • Ensure all program monitoring, evaluations, and reporting.
Required Certifications

Drivers License 

Certified Personal Training Certificate preferred, not required.
