The Moshannon Valley Branch of the YMCA of Centre County is currently accepting applications for a full-time Child Care Director.
Job Description
The Child Care Director is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and oversight for the School Age Child Care Progras, Summer Day Camp, and Early Learning Program, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, and philosophy of the YMCA of Centre County.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience working with children.
- An associate degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human service field and 3 years of experience working with children.
Essential Functions
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, Pennsyvania Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained in DHS regulations, Pennsylvania Keystone STARS standards, the Environmental Rating Scale, and New Staff Orientation requirements.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of all children in accordance with DHS requirements, including maintaining physical presence with the group and the ability to see, hear, direct, and access children at all times.
- Ensure programming is responsive to each child's interests, strengths, abilities, individual learning style, and pace of development.
- Ensure curriculum is developmentally appropriate and supports the individual needs of each child.
- Ensure all children are treated with dignity, respect, and care.
- Promote clear, professional, and respectful communication with parents, children, staff, and co-workers.
- Ensure child assessments and portfolios are completed, and that parent-teacher conferences are held at appropriate times throughout the year.
- Identify staffing needs and support the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of qualified staff.
- Process childcare department timecards accurately and on schedule for bi-weekly payroll.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the childcare budget to meet or exceed established budget targers.
- Maintain confidentiality of information related to families, children, staff, and co-workers.
- Provide oversight for youth and family events held at the branch, which may include family nights, Parents'/Kids' Night Out, Daddy/Daughter Dance, Healthy Kids Day, Halloween at the Y, and similar events.
- Ensure timely completion of required administrative paperwork, including attendance records, meal counts, incident reports, supply and equipment requests, newsletters, curriculum documentation, and other required records.
- Participate in recommended trainings and maintain an up-to-date Professional Development Record with YMCA of the USA to support ongoing professional growth.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteer leadership to plan, train, motivate, and support the Annual Giving Campaign in achieving its campaign goal, using established best practices and proven campaign strategies.
- Share responsibility for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized program environment.
- Report all incidents promptly to the Branch Director in accordance with established procedures.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Branch Director.
Required Certifications
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Annual Water and Fire Safety Training.
- Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
- Mandated Reporter training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and every 5 years thereafter.
- ACT 39 Training for First Responders - Naloxone Training within the first 90 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter.
