This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth and Family Program Director at The Gateway Family YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while creating, delivering, and promoting all aspects of Youth and Family programming, including but not limited to the School Age Child Care (SACC) program, Summer Camp program and other innovative Youth and Family Activities. Responsibilities include: Supervision, staff development, fiscal management, maintenance of government contracts, understanding of state and local licensing requirements, creativity in developing curriculum, implementing CATCH and relationship building with families, staff and community partners.
SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE/CAMP:
1. Plan, develop, supervise, and implement the program activities for each program.
2. Develop and monitor departmental budgets. Ensuring that the budget terms are met and meeting the deadlines for the budget are being completed. The director will be responsible for ordering and distributing supplies, equipment, snacks, etc. to each program area.
3. Plan, develop and ensure implementation of curriculum for the School Age Child Care and Summer Camp programs.
4. Develop and distribute parent communication.
5. Facilitate, lead, coach, and maintain the E-Child Care System in conjunction with 4C’s. Coordinate trainings on this system with staff and parents. Obtain and update all registrations, contracts, and all other forms that pertain to the programs.
6. Work closely with school administrators and personnel within the school district; send monthly emails or phone calls to keep communication lines open. Also, monitor district/school websites and BOE agendas. Participate in “Back to School Nights”, “PTO Meetings”, and “BOE Meetings” to show support as well as promote The Gateway Family YMCA.
7. Follow up with Finance regularly and each month regarding outstanding payments. Ensure that parents are called regarding delinquent payments. Follow up as necessary.
8. Attend weekly meeting with Supervisor, updating on all site, staff, and branch items. Maintain a professional manner at all times with children, parents, co-workers, and community. Act in accordance with the YMCA philosophy, school age goals, program objectives, and our policies and procedures. Attend staff meetings, training programs, and other YMCA and school functions. Continue professional development by attending meetings, trainings, workshops, etc.
9. Assume or perform any other duties deemed necessary by immediate supervisor or The Gateway Family YMCA Association.
YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAM:
1. Develop, manage and promote innovative youth and family programming for our YMCA.
2. Creates and leads at least 3 youth and family programs for each session.
3. Develop and monitor departmental budgets. Ensuring that the budget terms are met and meeting the deadlines for the budget are being completed. The director will be responsible for ordering and distributing supplies, equipment, snacks, etc. for the program.
4. Hires, supervises and evaluates program staff to create a cause-driven team focused on youth development.
5. Monitors program delivery with a focus on safety, quality, and impact.
6. Identifies and resolves issues and ensures that member questions or concerns are addressed in a professional and caring manner.
7. Cultivates relationships and collaborates with other community organizations.
8. Participates and plans events in support of the YMCA’s Annual Campaign and encourages staff to participate as well.
