The Aquatic Coordinator provides leadership to our Association and branches in the areas of aquatics. Acts as a subject matter expert and provides critical aquatics and safety information and resources to ensure compliance with Association standards, as well as federal, state, local and industry regulations and standards. Ensures effective emergency response to life-saving and other critical incidents. This position will focus on being an asset to the Aquatics Director and building the Findlay YMCA swim lesson program.

Must be 18+ years of age.

Essential Functions

 PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:

Teach swim lessons, water exercise, lifeguard and other programs as deemed necessary.

Provide coverage as needed in the event of inadequate staffing and lifeguard breaks.

Orient, acclimate and train new lifeguards to the facility, programs and the YMCA.

Assist in producing guard schedules and maintain program calendar.

Act as a resource to members and respond to questions or concerns as needed.

Assist in the develop and implement new programs.

Assist in Y Activities and special events as assigned by the Supervisor.

Assist in developing the budget and adhering to company policy regarding fiscal compliance.

Actively pursue opportunities to generate income through appropriate mission driven, consistent programs and activities.

Participate in Annual Campaign.

Complete all work in a timely manner thoroughly and satisfactorily.

Communicate effectively with welcome center, Membership Director and other program leaders to coordinate programs and the needs of groups.

Provide administrative support for the department as needed including, returning phone calls, typing correspondence, producing flyers and maintaining files

Assist in management of pool rentals.

In conjunction with the Aquatics Director, assist in supervising employees in the department.

Assist with interviewing, hiring, goal setting, training, planning, assigning and directing work and performance evaluations.

Assist with addressing complaints and resolving problems.

In the absence of the Aquatics Director provide overall direction, coordination and management of the department.

Recruits trains and supervises volunteers and staff in the delivery of membership services and programs

Always assumes direct responsibility for the facility and activities within.

Maintain accurate records as needed for the purpose of program planning, evaluation and budget development are kept (i.e. Payrolls, attendance, etc.)

Lend direct supervision to the maintaining of the pool operating systems and share in general upkeep, appearance and ongoing operation of the aquatic facilities.

Participate in a leadership capacity in all staff meetings.

Assume other responsibilities as needed in order to maintain and enhance the delivery of service of the Findlay Family YMCA.

Communicate regularly with supervisors and other staff.

Required Certifications

Must possess and keep current the following certifications:

Lifeguarding

Adult/Child/Infant CPR (Professional Rescuer)

American Red Cross LGI certification preferred
