Job Description

Medical Team/ Infirmary Coordinator

Are you a medical student or looking for experience in a medical office?  Love summer camp and helping others?  Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, a premier overnight summer camp for youth in Southern New England, is seeking Infirmary Coordinators for the Summer of 2024.  

Located on nearly 1500 forested acres in the Town of Becket, nestled within the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA camp which operates programs serving hundreds of campers. Boasting over a century of tradition, our industry leading programs include the Camp Becket for boys and Chimney Corners Camp for girls, the Travel & Service Programs, and Becket Day Camp.

Infirmary Coordinators will provide support to the medical team operations of the infirmaries at our camps: 

  • Develop and coordinate staff schedules in collaboration with Nursing Supervisors and as needed the Operations Director.
  • Provide organization to systems used in the infirmary such medical chart filing, logs, supply requisitions, coordination with the camp business office, event coverage, camp program schedules that impact infirmary duties, etc. 
  • Assist in incident reporting and file completion as required by the Operations Director.
  • Work with the Operations Coordinator to ensure all medical files and information is attained and maintained in the infirmary.
  • Develop pertinent lists for food service and camp staff in support of ensuring proper care of campers and staff. 
  • Ensure that the Infirmary and its facilities are kept clean, quiet, and prepared to deal with emergency and on-going health care of camp participants and staff.  
  • Help provide supervision ratios in the infirmary as needed.

Qualifications

What You Need To Apply: 

Infirmary Coordinators must have experience working with children, be currently certified or able to become certified in First Aid & CPR, and be 18 years of age or older.   Must be highly organized and systems-focused with attention to accuracy and detail.  Must be on site for the week of June 17th for trainings, and commit to at least one 4-week session between June 23th and August 17th (full summer commitment preferred).
