Job Description

Our Y is seeking an experienced, relationship-focused Director of Philanthropy to lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts that strengthen our community and advance our mission.

The Director will work closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, CEO, staff, volunteers, and community partners to develop and execute strategies for annual giving, major gifts, campaigns, special events, grants, and donor stewardship.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (master’s degree and/or CFRE/CFRM preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Experience with annual giving, special events, grants, and capital campaigns.
  • Understanding of moves-management, data, and metrics drive results.
  • Grant writing experience preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable engaging donors and community partners in person and virtually.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; fundraising database experience preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the philanthropy department
  • Oversee annual giving strategies, fundraising events, and campaign initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding major gifts (six figures).
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 prospective and current mid-level and major gift donors.
  • Build relationships with individuals, families, businesses, corporations, and foundations.
  • Participate in prospect moves-management meetings and track donor activity and progress.
  • Oversee development operations, donor database management, stewardship, and reporting.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Associate Director of Philanthropy.
  • Partner with Marketing/PR on fundraising communications and donor recognition.
  • Support grant development and maintain relationships with foundation and corporate partners.
  • Represent the YMCA at community and fundraising events.
