Job Description

Consistent with the mission of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Group Vice President, the Senior Executive Director is responsible for the oversight operations of multiple YMCA locations and must balance fiscal responsibility, staff development/motivation, quality program delivery and facility upkeep, cleanliness and safety to experience success.

Qualifications

•    Passion, enthusiasm, and support for mission and values of the YMCA with demonstrated community involvement and asset development experience.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences across different community contexts.
•    Minimum 21 years of age
•    Four-year college degree in a related field
•    At least seven years' experience in an executive director-level YMCA position 
•    Ability to inspire and motivate staff members.
•    Ability to create a culture of serving members and staff within the Centers.
•    Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems.
•    Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
•    Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
•    Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, required.

Essential Functions

•     Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility; implement character development and the YMCA core values in all programs and all aspects of each Centers’ operations.

•     Recruit and oversee an advisory committee of volunteers. These volunteers assist with fundraising and YMCA advocacy in the community.

•     Represent the YMCA and maintain appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders and businesses.

•     Coordinate the development and management of each Centers’ programs to meet the needs of the community and achieve Association operating objectives.

•     Ensure outstanding customer/member service.

•     Ensure all safety procedures are followed in accordance with YMCA of Middle TN policy and all local, state & federal laws.

•     Serve as a leader in the annual giving campaign and other fundraising initiatives; direct staff and volunteers on implementation of membership campaigns.

•     Develop, manage, and monitor each Centers’ operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.

•     Direct staff and volunteers in the development of program and membership enrollment strategies.

•     Coordinate staff and volunteer development, including recruitment, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, termination, etc.

•     Participate in special events, activities and meetings, including staff meetings, trainings, and assigned committees as requested.

•     Ensure compliance with Association policies and procedures.

•     Coordinate management and maintenance of each facility and equipment

Required Certifications

•    Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet, Child Abuse Detection/Prevention training and BBP.
•    Within 30 days of hire: New Hire Orientation training 
•    Within 30 days of hire: complete CPR Pro w/ AED, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen
•    YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred
•    Within three months of hire: Complete course training and certify in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing
