Qualifications

Essential Functions

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the overall personal training program, including program development, scheduling, staffing, and day-to-day operations.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop personal trainers to deliver high-quality member experiences.
  • Provide leadership, accountability, and ongoing feedback to the personal training team.
  • Build and maintain a strong personal training culture focused on relationships, results, and member retention.
  • Work directly with members to assess needs, establish goals, provide personal training, and model exceptional service.
  • Develop strategies to increase personal training participation, revenue, client retention, and trainer productivity.
  • Monitor department performance and use data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Partner with branch leadership and other wellness staff to create a connected, comprehensive approach to member health and wellness.
  • Ensure personal training services are delivered safely, professionally, and consistently with YMCA standards.
  • Promote personal training through member engagement, events, orientations, fitness programs, and community outreach.
  • Stay current with fitness industry trends, training techniques, and professional standards.
  • Serve as a visible leader and ambassador for the YMCA and its mission.
Required Certifications
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification – must have prior to hire
  • Nationally Recognized Personal Training Certification (AFAA, ACE, NSCA, NASM, NFPT, or ACSM certification)
