CHICAGO (January 8, 2026)—YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the national resource office for the 2,600 YMCAs across the country, is excited to announce that the 2026 YMCA National Gymnastics Championships will be held in Greensboro, NC, June 27 – July 1. This event hosts approximately 1,800 athletes from across the country, ranging in age from 6 years old to 20 years old. The Greensboro Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (GACVB) will provide support for this event.
“The YMCA has a long tradition of helping young people discover their strengths, on the mat and beyond,” said Meredith Griffin, Director of Sports and Competitive Events strategy at Y-USA. “The YMCA National Gymnastics Championships bring together athletes, families, and communities from across the country to celebrate hard work, belonging, and the joy of healthy competition. We’re grateful to Greensboro for welcoming the Y and helping us create an unforgettable experience for every participant.”
“Hosting the YMCA National Gymnastics Championship in Greensboro is something we’re truly proud of,” said Anthony Cordo, President and CEO of GACVB. “To host such remarkable talent is an honor, and it reflects the care our community puts into creating a warm, supportive environment for athletes, families, and fans. Events like this allow us to share the very best of Greensboro while celebrating the dedication of these incredible gymnasts.”
The first YMCA National Gymnastics Championship took place in 1938. In addition to the competition, the event features an opening ceremony, parade of athletes, and a senior reception to honor all graduating high school seniors and scholarship recipients.
The championship will take place at the First Horizon Coliseum Complex (1921 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC, 27403) and will be open to the public. American Athletic, Inc. (AAI) is the official equipment supplier for the event.
