School Age Childcare Director

Seeking a passionate and organized School Age Childcare Director to lead our Before & After School, Fun Club, and Summer Camp programs.
Job Description

The School Age Childcare Director will supervise and support childcare staff, oversee multiple program sites, ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Social Services licensing requirements, and maintain strong relationships with schools, families, and the community. The position will also help develop curriculum, monitor program quality, support staff development, manage enrollment and financial assistance processes, and ensure programs operate effectively and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and leader who enjoys working with children, families, and staff and is passionate about the YMCA mission. This is a hands-on position that requires organization, flexibility, problem solving, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications
  • College diploma required preference for Child Development or Education
  • Two to Five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families, staff, schools, and community partners
  • Passion for the YMCA mission and a commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for children
Essential Functions
  1. Supervision over Befor & After School, Fun Club, and Summer Camp.
  2. Follow VA Quality Standards including teacher/child interactions.
  3. Ensure that programs are maintained and run well within the state licensing guidelines of the Virginia Department of Social Services.
  4. Maintain positive and professional relationships with parents, staff, school and community partners.
  5. Attend 16 hours (annually) of job related training. Complete mandatory CPR/First Aid, Child Abuse & Neglect, and DSS In-Service training, along with other training pertaining to childcare & staff development.
  6. Exemplify the Y Mission and character development.
  7. Create a welcome and friendly atmosphere for all members and program participants.
