Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The ECEC Center Director is responsible for program development and implementation, supervision of children and working as a team in an early childhood setting. This position is responsible for ensuring children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental development in our YMCA Early Childhood Education Center.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated record of individual development
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must meet DHR minimum requirements for Director position
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Ability to work with integrity, discretion and a professional approach
- Attention to detail, accuracy and meeting deadlines. Good judgement and discretion
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in data entry with working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Essential Functions
FISCAL MANAGEMENT
- Operate a fiscally responsible program through the development and monitoring of financial budgets/reports
- Be responsible for billing and fee collection
- Maintain records as required by the YMCA and licensing
- Purchase program supplies
PERSONNEL
- Supervise, schedule, train and regularly evaluate staff
- Fill staff vacancies in conjunction with Childcare Services Director following established YMCA policies
- Maintain all employees licensing files and assure that they are completed
- Provide needed feedback to staff regarding performance
PROGRAM DELIVERY
- Responsible for planning, conducting and supervising a creative and stimulating program that is age-appropriate for Pre-school children. Plans daily and monthly activities and provides guidance to staff in doing the same
- Plan regular scheduled special events for families of participants (i.e., Open House, Holiday Program, etc.)
- Provide for the health and safety of children and staff. Develop and train other staff in emergency procedures
- Develop discipline procedures and implement as needed
COMMUNICATION
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their children
- Meet regularly with Childcare Services Director, providing updates on program
- Prepare and distribute monthly newsletter/calendar for parents
- Assist in preparing quarterly newsletter to parents
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Responsible for maintaining licensing files to include emergency disaster plans, childcare roster, administrative designations and other licensing requirements
- Ensure that all areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner
- Ensure proper documentation and follow through with the Department of Human Resources, Childcare Management Association and Department of Education
