Job Description

The Community Relations Director coordinates the administrative, development and community relations activities necessary to ensure a smooth flow of communication between the CEO, board volunteers and the general public. All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in a way that enhances and protects the image of the Two Rivers YMCA.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or public relations field from an accredited four-year college or university. Must have a minimum of three years’ experience as an administrative, marketing or fundraising professional. 

Language Skills: Must possess the ability to professionally and effectively communicate with colleagues, board members, community leaders, volunteers and donors. This includes speaking in groups, in public and by drafting letters, memos, invoices, reports, and other documents. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to compose and interpret a department budget. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate all fundraising activities, including campaigns, special events, grants and sponsorships.
  • Record pledges/donations in software database and produce gift acknowledgement correspondence within one business day.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential donor records.
  • Invoice donors for campaign pledges.
  • Assist in designing and creating online and electronic communications.
  • Coordinate and accurately convey donor recognition; including banners, donor wall and thank you’s.
  • Coordinate grant requests and serve as primary contact for foundations.
  • Provide high-level administrative support and assistance to boards and the CEO, such as assisting with scheduling, special activities and recording minutes.
  • Capture photos and video to use in board meetings, donor correspondence and general events.
  • Coordinate attendance, logistics and catering for donor and volunteer meetings and dinners.
  • Remain knowledgeable of YMCA current events and programs. Create press releases on behalf of program staff for important activities.
  • Maintain professional development and appropriate networking.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media and community relations during times of crisis or high publicity. Train colleagues on crisis control procedures.
  • Cultivate and maintain active relationships with key community leaders and media personnel.

Required Certifications

Must be able to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid for infant, child and adult, Blood borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention within first 30-days. Must have a valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance. Other trainings may be assigned and necessary to execute this position.
