San Diego Box Lacross
Middle School Boys
Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States, thanks to its relentless speed and nail-biting precision plays. Originally a Native American sport resembling aspects of hockey and basketball, lacrosse players don pads, helmets and netted lacrosse sticks to pass and shoot a small rubber ball while the opposing team does everything they can to stop them and make a goal of their own!
This contact sport is an exhilarating way to build strength, cardiovascular endurance, and friendship with teammates. The YMCA is proud to offer several clinics and leagues for players around San Diego to learn and improve their skills.
On or before 10/27/2019
Box lacrosse is a fun and high energy game of lacrosse in a smaller and enclosed field space. This program offers players (grades 5-12) the ability to work and improve upon speed, stick skills, quick decision making during game situations, success inside on the crease and in tight spaces, offensive and defensive systems, shooting placement, positioning, transitions, and communication. All sessions will be “pick up play” format, where teams are formed at the start of each session and there is continuous 1-hour game play. Top level, positive coaching is provided during game situations in order to ensure that players get the most out of their season.
This is a great way to stay in shape and/or learn new skills in the off season!
Boy’s games will be played according to US Box Lacrosse Association Rules and Situational Book (available for download once player membership is purchased).
All players grades 5-12 must have a valid US BOXLA # (http://membership.usboxla.com/page-1138797).
Equipment (all players): helmet, stick, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, mouth guard, protective cup (rib pads and bicep pads are also recommended, but not required)
