Learn a variety of textile applications in these fun workshops hosted by volunteers from the Textile Study Guild of San Diego. Choose one or all! Come to textiles/open sessions and bring projects to work on and socialize.
Woven Patchwork for Knits
Darning is like weaving on knits. It’s fun to use brightly colored yarns that create customized designs. We will be darning yarn patches that can repair or decorate knitted sweaters, scarfs or socks. Suggested Supplies: knit sweaters, scarves , mittens or knitting samples or scraps, variety of scraps of colored yarns, sewing kit of scissors, and large eyed needles. If you don’t have these supplies, they will be provided.

Pulled-thread Embroidery is a decorative needlework made by pulling some threads out of the fabric and using the remaining threads to form lacelike patterns. We will make linen bookmarks sewn with embroidery thread. Suggested Supplies: scissors, sewing thread, embroidery Perle cotton thread, needles, linen cloth, and 8” embroidery hoops. If you don’t have these supplies, they will be provided.
