Military Family Support

Our Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) helps navy families who have children with disabilities and special needs by providing up to 40 hours per month of respite care services. Respite care allows families short-term relief from the continual care of their child with developmental disabilities to allow parents and guardians time for other activities.

Program Eligibility

  • Be an active duty, or Reservist on active duty, Navy family
  • Have a child(ren) identified as category IV or V in the Navy Exceptional Family Member Program
  • Child(ren) receiving care must be living in the home full time with the active duty Navy Sponsor

Navy families enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) at the following naval bases may qualify to receive respite services:

  • Naval Base San Diego
  • Naval Base Point Loma
  • Naval Base Coronado
  • Naval Medical Center
  • Naval Amphibious Base
  • Other Assigned Installation

Enhanced Military Referral Service

YMCA CRS helps military families locate quality child care off base. Active duty, deployed, and activated reserve service members may qualify for fee assistance through various programs. The type of fee assistance families qualify for varies based on the service member's status and branch of service. Families who are interested in using fee assistance can receive enhanced referrals to child care providers who meet the program qualifications.
