Kids to Camp — Where the Fun Never Ends!
We believe that every child is a unique individual with their own rate of development.
Our goal is to introduce children and teens to as many new positive experiences as possible and help each child feel confident and secure in a fun, safe camp environment.
All of our branches offer Summer Camps that have been accredited by the American Camp Association, exceeding the highest standards in the day camp industry, as well as three YMCA Overnight Camp locations.
The quality of our camping staff is what sets us apart. Our staff members are seasoned youth development professionals with extensive camp experience and a passion for what they do. Our number one goal is to provide the safest, most enriching environment possible for you and your family.
With a household to run, a job to clock into, and five kids to keep up with, Selena is a hard-working mom.
During busy weeks and stressful days, she is given peace of mind that the YMCA is there to support her and her family.
Upon a friend’s recommendation a few years ago, Selena enrolled three of her children in the Summer Camp program offered at the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA.
With the support of a program scholarship from the YMCA, she found the camp to be affordable and convenient, as well as a safe, fun, and high-quality experience for her kids to enjoy.
She has come to know the YMCA as a place she can depend on, as well as a place her kids look forward to going.
When Selena speaks about Desiree’s enthusiasm for Dance Camp and Devin's excitement about Basketball Camp, the pride in her voice is unmistakeable.
Most recently – thanks to generous donors like you – both children had the opportunity to enjoy spring break at a “themed” YMCA Summer Camp, and Desiree is looking forward to an upcoming Overnight Camp weekend at YMCA Camp Surf in Imperial Beach.
When Selena speaks about Desiree’s enthusiasm for Dance Camp and Devin’s excitement about Basketball Camp, the pride in her voice is unmistakable: “Desiree was practicing at home every night for the performance they put on for families. She told everyone that week to come and watch her in the show. Devin came home Friday with a medal earned during the last day of Basketball Camp. He showed it to our whole family and put it up on his wall.”
When kids take the stage for the first time, or they choose a place for their own medal on the wall – these are moments that help define who they are, building character and confidence.
These defining moments reinforce the notion that they are talented individuals that can achieve their goals when they set their mind to it.
By helping support the YMCA's scholarship program, the generosity of people like you helps create these moments and fuels brighter futures for children across San Diego County.
We need you – because together, we can help them.
On behalf of Desiree and Devin, and kids like them, thank you for considering a gift to the Y’s Kids to Camp program.
