Give to the Y

It’s a fact that strong, stable, secure families form a solid foundation for the growth and success of all family members, particularly children in low-income areas. At the Y, strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility is our cause.

The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children committed to bringing about lasting personal and social change. With a focus on nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being and providing opportunities to give back and support neighbors, the Y enables youth, adults, families and communities to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

We are committed to reaching out to kids and families regardless of income, to provide support by engaging in the Y. Money raised through our fundraising efforts ensures that everyone who needs the Y is afforded the opportunity to take advantage of our services and facilities. As we continue to enhance and expand our family programming, our family membership base continues to grow, increasing the need for financial support.

Funding Our Strategic Vision

The county of San Diego is evolving. To ensure that the YMCA continues to meet the needs of our communities, we intend to double our impact by 2025. We are currently serving almost 400,000 people annually; nearly 1 in every 8 San Diegans. By 2025, our vision is to touch the lives of 800,000 people each year.

  • To serve growing neighborhoods within our county, several potential communities have been targeted for a new, full-service YMCA. We are also committed to enhancing existing Ys to best engage the our communities.
  • The YMCA’s Annual Campaign helps to provide access for all and ensures that our programs are affordable and available to the most vulnerable populations in our community – whether they are children, seniors or anyone else in between.
  • We will strengthen our endowment as an investment in the future for scholarships, facilities and more.

Annual Campaign

Our Annual Campaign is more than a fundraising vehicle. It brings together staff at all levels, committed volunteers, Y members, and donors to pursue a common objective: Ensuring the Y has the resources to strengthen the community and make an enduring impact in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. A year-round approach to annual fundraising helps us deliver on our cause by fostering a culture of philanthropy, building stronger community partnerships, and raising more charitable funds to make mission impact possible.

Planned Giving

Many friends of the Y choose to help extend their values and the Y’s influence beyond their own lifetimes by gifting some of the assets they have accumulated to the Y’s permanent endowment fund. Donors can direct their gifts support the overall work of that Y or designate them to support an area of major focus that will remain integral to the Y and the community it serves for future generations. A healthy Y capable of making a significant impact in the community is a gift we have received from prior generations. It is a gift we should pass along, in a stronger position, to future generations.
