Job Description

Are you ready to lead a team that delivers hundreds of diverse, inclusive, fun, and motivating group exercise classes to individuals of all ages and experience levels across the D.C., MD, VA (DMV) area each week?  Then we have the perfect job for you as the Association Director of Group Exercise.

The Association Director of Group Exercise will lead Group Exercise programming and service delivery across 6 branch locations and numerous program centers and off-site locations in the DMV. Based in the Fairfax County-Reston YMCA branch, this individual will travel across the region to support the team of Wellness Directors, Group Exercise Coordinators and hundreds of Group Exercise instructors in delivering an outstanding member experience and upholding our Association’s standards for excellence.

Qualifications

For position consideration the ideal candidate will have at least seven years of relevant Group Exercise leadership experience working with the YMCA (preferred) or like-service providers; have a diverse array of Group Exercise certifications; and earned an undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study. 

Essential Functions

Under the leadership of the Association’s Vice President of Health & Wellness, the Association Director of Group Exercise is responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering a robust, innovative, motivating and inclusive Group Exercise program offering for the Association that is continually improved upon;
  • Upholding Association standards for excellence in studio operations;
  • Upholding the Association’s core values and reliably providing outstanding class experiences;
  • Attracting, recruiting, retaining and developing the best instructors for the Y’s programs;
  • Leading the Association Group Exercise training program, including a conference/”jam” training experience to develop Y instructors and staff;
  • Conducting quarterly surveys of instructors & members on Y programs and service; and,
  • Deepening the connection between YMCA members and instructors by engaging them in the YMCA mission and community impact.
