Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Child Care Branch, the ideal candidate for the Child Care Director will have a passion for serving school-age children and their families in a caring educational setting rooted in the mission of the YMCA.

  • At least 21 years old
  • Associates Degree in Education or related field or CPL level 3 required
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education or related field preferred
  • Previous experience working with children under 13
  • 1-3 years staff engagement and supervisory experience required
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills
  • Experience with the State of Ohio Child Care Licensing requirements and Step Up to Quality system
Essential Functions
  • Manage all aspects of five before and after school program sites that serve students in the Plain Township and Lake Local school districts and two summer day camp program sites for children entering kindergarten through eighth grade.
  • Recruit, train, manage and evaluate a part time staff team of over twenty-five
  • Develop, implement and maintain program budgets
  • Monitor and model quality standards and licensing compliance
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with families, students, school district personnel and other agencies to continuously improve programming
  • Provide meaningful fun and engagement for students, staff and families
