Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the District Vice President and Branch Associate Executive, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Department and Outreach Programs of the Wilson Branch of The Family Y including, but not limited to the following:

Wellness - Staff supervision, budget development & control, program quality & development, maintenance & trial of equipment, membership retention & engagement of all branch Wellness Programs

Outreach – Oversee the administration, implementation, and delivery of the branch Food Program, along with other Community Outreach programs administered on both the association and branch levels. 

This position is key to a high functioning team at both the branch level as a Senior Staff and in the association, serving on the Wellness Cabinet and any other applicable to job description.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Interpret, communicate, and promote The Family Y mission, goals, and objectives to employees, volunteer, members, and the community at large.

Maintain a high profile among members for the purpose of being a role model of health and fitness.

Develop creative, innovative programs, training and classes within the wellness, group exercise and personal training.

Remain an intrigual participant and contributor for the association Food Program.

Participate in Wellness Cabinet along with any other cabinets applicable to job description.

Research trends and organize equipment trials to continuously stay cutting edge in Wellness.

Stay educated on current certifications needed for wellness staff.

Develop, implement and maintain the Budget for all areas of responsibility, holding staff accountable.

Manage CORE for all Department Program Areas.

Hire, train, schedule and supervise all wellness, fitness, and group exercise staff.

Oversee and design ongoing, up-to-date wellness and educational programs for adult members of all ages and physical conditions.

Develop and implement operation procedures for all aspects of the wellness center.

Keep current, accurate records and rosters of all wellness programs.

Keep reports and log books related to the maintenance of all exercise equipment.

Accurately completes and submits all required daily, weekly, and monthly foodservice reports.

Assist in the leadership, development, and implementation of Community Outreach, such as Physical Education, Food Pantry and Blessing Bags, etc.

Perform building coverage on a rotating schedule with other professional staff.

Attends Branch Board meetings at the request of the Branch Director.

Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all staff, volunteers and members.

Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Actively participates and supports the annual scholarship campaign.

Performs all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

 

A bachelor’s degree in physical education, exercise science, athletic training, or other related field from an accredited college or university is preferred

A minimum of three years of professional experience with The Family Y or other YMCA association or other comparable organization

One to three years supervisory experience at a wellness facility required

Experience with volunteer, program and membership development

Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective management skills

Knowledge of the principles and practices of facilities rules, policies, and procedures.

Office/desk, outside environment, wellness floor, and off-site locations.
